The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires Federal agencies to prepare written documentation of potential environmental impacts from proposed actions. Such documentation and the type and level of analyses may vary significantly depending upon the actions proposed, agency-specific NEPA requirements, and public input into the process.
